Hallo, mijn naam is Maria Louisa.

Februari 2007: Flameworking - Julie Anne Denton   http://www.glassodyssey.co.uk
Cursusomschrijving:
Tijdens de cursus werden verschillende manieren geleerd om het menselijk figuur vorm te geven in zacht glas. Daarnaast kregen we diverse andere opdrachten om de vaardigheden met betrekking tot het sculpturen maken te verbeteren.

Oktober 2007: Silver Secrets - Sarah Hornik   http://www.glassbysarah.com
Info from: http://www.facet-design.nl/workshops/sarah_hornik/index.php

In this class we will explore some of the endless possibilities of silver. We will use silver in different forms (leaf, foil, wire, mesh) on its own and along with specialty glasses, to create beads from earthy organics to magical beaches to space-like beads from another world.
We will also cover using specialty glasses (Raku and silver glass) on a HotHead!

Subjects:

1. Organics with a Twist

You won’t find these in nature! We will use silver on different backgrounds to create fun organic beads and learn to make silvered twisties, wig-wags and more.

2. Space and Beyond

Using silver reactions and specialty glasses such as Kronos and Raku to create beads from another world.

3. Magical Beaches

We will create abstract “beach” beads with silver, silver glass colors and frit.
Use your imagination!

4. Q&A Session

Cursusomschrijving:

29 Februari 2008: Stringer and Dot Applications - Dora Schubert   http://www.doraschubert.com
Info from: http://www.facet-design.nl/workshops/dora_schubert/index.php

In this workshop, you will learn how to apply straight/curvy lines and dots on your beads. You shall be taught on how to adjust your flame which is necessary for the application of thin stringers and small dots. The workshop will begin with the different ways of pulling stringers and you will be pulling various thicknesses of stringers.

Along with the demonstrating the various techniques, I shall talk about color combination, design elements and source of inspiration for beadmaking.

6 & 7 Maart 2008: Flower Power 1 - Michaela Maria Möller
http://www.glassart-m.com/index.php?english
Info from: www.stipglas.com

13 & 14 September 2008: Pati Walton   http://www.patiwalton.com
Info from: http://www.facet-design.nl/workshops/pati_walton/index.php

 Garden bead by Pati Walton

This 2 day class will be "all about the Garden". We will make lots of different flowers and canes and incorporate them into our beads. Of course, Pati will also teaching other tricks she has developed over the past years. Also she will show how to work with a riviting machine to line beads.

8 & 9 November 2008: Teresa Laliberté   http://www.lavendercreek.de

Manipulation of Meshes and Metals!

In this class we will explore the endless ways to use various types and shapes of metals inside a bead, often changing the shape of the 'inner glass' with mesh, and a bit of gentle persuasion. We'll create some Chaos! Some of the work we'll cover is:

Chaos, Big and Small - We'll begin with a smaller Chaos bead, using fine copper mesh, and discuss the specific techniques for this style. Once you're comfortable with the moves…you'll make a big Chaos bead, and I'll teach you how to use Chaos as an element in a dramatic design!

Miscellaneous Metal Madness - We'll also spend some time working with brass, fine silver mesh, and various foils that can be added to your glass creations, and I'll show you how to make some little "silver surprises", as well! We'll discuss how to integrate these patterns and designs into your work, and how the different colors of glass work (and sometimes don't work) with certain metals. Bring your questions!

Implosions and Pods; Taking the Plunge!

In this class we'll be doing some off-mandrel work, making components that we'll later add to our beads. This technique will hugely increase the scope of your designs, and you'll become comfortable with woking in "stages". "Pods" are floating shapes that drift within transparent glass, you'll learn to create them, using a special tool, and you'll learn how to make "impossible" designs with them as well!
We'll make beads in a variety of shapes, and explore some "non-bead" concepts as well.

Shipwrecks and Other Watery Subjects!

Shipwreck beads are a great way to bring all of the techniques that you've learned together, in these beads, creativity reigns! You'll learn how to create a harmonious seascape without really trying; by layering colors and building a design from the ocean floor up. We'll discuss how to use scale in your designs, and how to shape your bead to use your ideas to the greatest advantage.

Vanaf 14 februari 2009: Creative training with working with Borosylicate glass -
 Frans Meeuwsen

Learning the basics of working with borosylicate glass at a table torch in
 10 saturdayafternoons.
Starting with rods and later with hollow tubes.

Planned for 2009:

Juli 30 & 31: The human form in soft glass - Julie Ann Denton

August 1 & 2 : The human form in borosylicate glass - Julie Ann Denton

October 2009: Loren Stump

October 27, 2009: Glass, Glitter and Gravity - Sarah Hornik http://www.glassbysarah.com

This one-day workshop will focus on two main elements:
  • Using gravity control to produce eye-catching patterns and create interesting curvy shapes with lots of depth and sparkle, with minimal use of tools.
  • Incorporating "glitter" into your beads – in form of gold foil, palladium leaf and dichro. We’ll learn how to get the best results with these materials, Sarah-style.

The class will include 3-4 focal beads and loads of fun!

    Projects:

1. Gravity Basics + Dichro

We’ll begin the class with a few creative ways of using gravity and learn to work with dichroic glass strips for extra sparkle.
2. Gold

What could be more fun than fooling around with 23-karat gold? We’ll learn to encase it to create a ‘Pirate’s Gold’ bead and even burn it away to make gilded ivory.
3. Palladium

Palladium leaf is the funkiest metal out there! We’ll be using it in two different ways – encasing it for a magical sparkle and leaving it on the surface to bring out the wild colors.
4. Silk

I will share some of my recently-discovered techniques to create a “silk” bead, using your choice of gold or palladium for added bling!
  5. Q&A Session
